Healthwatch Northumberland Annual Survey

Please see message from Healthwatch Northumberland

Healthwatch Northumberland are the independent champion for health and social care in Northumberland. We listen to the public’s views about health and social care services and work with health services and the County Council to try and improve things for the better.

As the health and care sector are facing many challenges and Northumberland has issues around accessing services as well as an ageing population, it’s really important that we hear about local issues so that we can feedback to decision makers and planners and make sure that health and social care services are equitable for all.

Every year, we conduct an annual survey to try and identify priority issues for the people of Northumberland. To complete this year’s survey, which runs until 15th March, please click on the link below:

Marchburn Lane Mill Pond

Back in 2002 when the last Village Plan was prepared, one of the suggestions was to “develop the Mill Pond in Marchburn Lane as a recreational amenity”.  This idea has again been proposed and the Parish Council contacted the Tyne Rivers Trust to seek their advice.  They have suggested that a feasibility study is conducted to establish the likely costs and to ensure that the work undertaken will not increase any flood risk.  The task of taking this further has been passed to the Riding Mill Play & Regeneration Group.  If you have an interest in environmental projects and would be interested in joining this group then please contact the Clerk who will pass your details to the committee (Email: ridingmillclerk@gmail.com).

Christmas tree Recycling

A reminder that you can take your tree to the Old Playground after Christmas and the County Council will collect it – the collection point will close on 14th January.  Further details can be found on the County Council’s website together with bin collection dates over the holiday period. New Councillors

Four residents have recently joined the Parish Council: Pam Bridges, Christine Howe, Pauline Mulholland and Janet Padgett.  This means that the Council has nine members and for the first time in many years is operating with no vacancies.  We are very grateful to the four new members for coming forward and helping to share the many tasks.
