Back in 2002 when the last Village Plan was prepared, one of the suggestions was to “develop the Mill Pond in Marchburn Lane as a recreational amenity”. This idea has again been proposed and the Parish Council contacted the Tyne Rivers Trust to seek their advice. They have suggested that a feasibility study is conducted to establish the likely costs and to ensure that the work undertaken will not increase any flood risk. The task of taking this further has been passed to the Riding Mill Play & Regeneration Group.
