The Parish Council will next meet on Monday 11th May in the Supper Room, Parish Hall, Millfield Road.

Councillor Dale will be available to answer questions from 7.15pm and the public may put questions to the Council from 7.30 – 7.45 pm.  The meeting will then start at 7.45pm

Litter Pick – Saturday 28th March

Litter-Pick

On Saturday 28th March we will be holding a village spring clean.  If you would   be prepared to give an hour of your time please come to the Parish Hall for 10am to be issued with gardening gloves and a bin bag.  It would be helpful to have an idea of numbers so please let the Clerk know if you think you can help (ridingmillclerk@gmail.com).

New Defibrillator

We are pleased to report that the defibrillator has been installed outside the Parish Hall and the PC is very grateful to the Stephen Carey Fund who have helped sponsor this equipment.

The Stephen Carey Fund is a charity set up to help provide emergency first aid training and equipment throughout Northumberland, in memory of a young footballer who died.  The equipment is extremely simple to use but before installation the charity will run free community training sessions on CPR and the use of a defibrillator.

This training will be held on Sunday 22nd February at 2pm in the Parish Hall – all are welcome.

PC Meeting – Monday 10th November 2014

The Parish Council next meets on Monday 10th November. The meeting commences at 7.45 pm but Councillor Dale is available for questions from 7.15 pm and it is possible to put questions to the Council from 7.30 pm.

We hope that Northumbria Police will be in attendance to discuss local crime issues and this will be the first agenda item.

  • To amend Standing Orders in respect of the number of quotations required as NCC oversee street lighting for the Parish and maintain the path and it would be most appropriate if they complete the work.
  • To appointment contractors.

 

 

  1. Wheelchair access by Parish Hall leading to the Play Park and Tennis Court

            To review: current progress on this matter.

 

  1. Cricket Club

(i)         Grass cutting   

To report: that a request was received after the last PC meeting to make an early part contribution towards payment for this year’s grass cutting which was approved;

(ii)        Damage to the Cricket Pavilion

To report: that windows in the Cricket Pavilion have been broken on two recent occasions.  The first occasion the Cricket Club paid for the repairs themselves.  The Cricket Club is requesting that the PC pay for the second repair.

 

To consider: whether to pay for the repairs and also what further action should be taken to prevent such incidents occurring again.

 

  1. Japanese Knotweed / Himalayan Balsam

To consider: letters received from residents regarding this problem.

 

  1. Road safety issues – The Nick/Slaley Road junction (BC)

 

  1. Local Transport Priorities

To agree: on three local transport priorities to submit to the County Council.

To consider: a suggestion made by a resident to hire a thermal imaging camera which can be borrowed by residents to assess the energy efficiency of their home.

The County Council is holding a drop-in session on Friday 11th July from 2pm until 7pm at the Council Chamber, Prospect House, Hexham, to provide information and engage with residents about the future of Hexham Bus Station.
